On Wednesday, July 29th, 2026 we have an Aquarius Full Moon at 7:37AM EST. The Moon will be conjunct with Pluto, retrograde in Aquarius, heightening and intensifying our self-reflection and the pull of the transformative energy. This post covers the themes that I personally see in this lunation.
July 2026 is an intense month for astrological events. I have a post coming soon detailing the astrological picture leading up to the Jupiter cazimi that you do not want to miss, it’s going to be juicy. The Jupiter cazimi also happens on July 29th, contributing to the energy surrounding this Full Moon. A cazimi happens with a planet forms an exact conjunction with the Sun. Both the Sun and Jupiter will be in Leo and will be in oppositions with the Full Moon and Pluto in Aquarius.
This Full Moon in Aquarius has the potential to be a powerful lunation. Pluto in Aquarius has been in opposition with Jupiter in Leo, bringing potential tension for us between how we view ourselves individually and how we show up in the collective. Jupiter, the planet of growth, expansion, knowledge, and abundance shines beautifully in Leo’s flames. Leo’s energy pushes us to show up fully as ourselves, to grow unapologetically, and to let the world see our many talents.
Pluto, the planet of transformation, rebirth, shadow, and endings opposing Jupiter creates tension. Pluto in Aquarius asks: “how does that growth benefit others? What is the significance of your transformation if we take a wider frame? Who are you in a world that is changing so rapidly? What must you release to move forward?” A tension between who we are individually versus who we are in our communities may be felt at this moment. Some of us may feel a bit out of place, like we are growing in our own different direction from those around us. The opposition between Jupiter and Pluto has been separating since its peak on the 20th, but the Moon in Aquarius is opposing the Sun in Leo, and the themes of these oppositions will still be felt during this full moon.
Although the New Moon in Cancer was only two weeks ago, the pace of the astrological events this month makes it feel much longer to me. The new moon in Cancer happened while Mercury retrograde in Cancer was in full-swing, heightening the emotional intensity of the new moon. The new moon brought us themes around honoring our emotions, feeling our feelings without being consumed by them, and emotions around home, family, and belonging. The Mercury retrograde brought us deep reflection focused on the important relationships in our lives, particularly deep emotions around home and family for many of us. This retrograde was a particularly hard one for many of us.
If we look at how we have progressed from the new moon to now, the energy of Aquarius affirms for us that being different is beautiful. The self vs. collective tension highlighted by the oppositions in Leo and Aquarius may manifest for some of us as feeling out of place in our families or communities because we “don’t fit in.” In that context, I view this Aquarius full moon as a sign that we deserve to be loved for who we authentically are and we can love ourselves for who we are. We did not come here to try to squeeze ourselves into a box. The world needs all of our authentic selves.
The Full Moon in Aquarius conjunct with Pluto retrograde in Aquarius means the transformative power of this moment is strong. We are being pushed more deeply into shadow work that forces us to look honestly at the conditions of the present moment. Technological advances are happening rapidly, and many of these changes do not align with the greater good of humanity or the planet. Our cultural landscape is experiencing rapid change in this context. We are reckoning with those changes and reflecting on our values.
Politically, we have been grappling with authoritarianism. Many people have been reflecting on how they can resist the rise of these extreme ideologies in a corrupt system, struggling as we feel the full weight of what is at stake. For many, it feels like there is no feasible path to victory, but that is exactly what the system wants us to believe. Just how much are we willing to risk personally to try to build a more just society? How do we balance caring for those we are responsible for while also pushing back against our oppression? These are deeply personal questions. Ultimately, we must continue to resist. Many people are feeling called more deeply into activism, which I see as being a theme for this lunation (particularly with Pluto in Aquarius, which is shining a light on corrupt systems and toxic power structures).
In addition to placing great value on the highest good of humanity, Aquarius is often known for a rebellious spirit and a progressive nature. Aquarius doesn’t accept the status quo, it asks the expansive questions: how can we create the change we want to see? What better reality is possible? Dancing boldly forward into a new world, we are invited to believe that change is possible because we are that change.
The themes I selected for this Full Moon’s tarot spreads include transformative change, embracing our rebellious spirit, and answering the call to create change in the world. I am wishing you a happy, transformative, and supportive Full Moon. 💙
