Return to Your Center this Virgo Season

August has been an intense month for many of us. The Solar Eclipse in Leo earlier in the month partnered with the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces later this week (August 27th) has created an intense period of change, transformation, karmic endings, and heightened emotions. Some of us have been reckoning with the past in profoundly personal ways, and there is the potential for more change on the horizon as the Lunar Eclipse quickly approaches.
Change can take many forms. It is one of the only constants in life. It can be subtle and gradual, or explosive and disruptive. It can be healing. It may at times be something that is both unwanted and deeply needed. Change comes whether we are ready or not. And even if the changes are something we have been seeking, it may still bring discomfort or challenge.
Virgo season, the period of time where the Sun is in Virgo, began on August 22nd and lasts until September 22nd. Virgo is the mutable Earth sign, ruled by Mercury. Virgo Season is associated with balance, cleansing, organization, planning, energetic resets, self-care, learning, reflecting on lessons, and the harvest. Like eclipses, Virgo season can come with endings, as it is associated with cleansing, responsibility, and self-care, but this season brings a new potential for stability. Although this eclipse season is overlapping the beginning of Virgo season, the practical and grounded energy of Virgo may be a breath of fresh air for many of us following the changes of the eclipses.
If you’ve been feeling the impact of change, or have just been needing a moment of peace to center your energy, consider taking a moment to sit somewhere quiet and ground yourself.
A Return to Center: This spread opens by asking what you are ready to release coming out of the eclipse season. Next, we evaluate a way that you can feel more balanced. The spread continues with Virgo’s themes of self-care by exploring what parts of you are needing care and how you can give yourself what you need. The spread wraps up by calling in something to help you quiet your mind, and finishes with a grounding message to carry with you for the season.
Title: Virgo Season Tarot Spread, Spread name: A Return to Center, Cards: 1. Something I am ready to release…, 2. A way that I can feel more balanced…, 3. A part of me that’s needing care…, 4. How I can give myself what I need…, 5. Something to help me quiet my mind…, 6. A grounding message for this season… Behind the cards is a field of grain in earth tones of brown, orange, and beige. The setting sun begins its descent behind the horizon, light shining through the grain. The sky is warm shades of pink and purple, with gentle clouds passing by.
On September 10th we have a New Moon in Virgo, another perfect opportunity to embrace Virgo themes and reflect on the lessons of the season. Some ideas for how to observe the Virgo New Moon include cleansing your space, self-care rituals like spiritual baths, journaling about anything you have recently been studying, and setting your intentions for the Fall. Although change is inevitable in life, taking the time to center ourselves following periods of transition and upheaval can help us feel more grounded and focused on the present.
Virgo is a sign that I feel sometimes gets an unfair reputation. Virgo carries a deep love for others, an unwavering commitment to show up for those they love. Virgos are loyal, kind, and supportive. My South Node is in Virgo, and it’s a part of my chart that I feel deeply in my lived experience. Some of the challenges that can come with Virgo placements are a struggle with perfectionism, over-analysis, and self-criticism. These are all areas that I have struggled with and still face at times.
To all the lovely Virgo Suns, Virgo Risings, and those with other Virgo Placements who are reading this: you are enough just as you are. You are loved. You are worthy of rest. You deserve to be gentle with yourself. You do not have to be perfect to be worthy of approval. You are beautiful exactly as you are.
I wish all of us a happy and reflective Virgo Season. 🩷
